Score-O & Holiday Party

December 13, 2009

Mark Geldmeier, Meet Director

We had nice weather for December!  Skies were mostly cloudy with temps in the mid-40’s.  Heavy rain the night before made for slippery conditions and the creeks were full of water and the trails were muddy.  This was a 1-hour score-O event with 18 controls of varying point value.  David Frei was able to sweep the course (ie: get every control!)  Everyone else reported having a great time in the woods (and getting muddy and wet!)  We were happily surprised to see Carol Jarosik (Bisch) and her son come out for the event.  Carol was a regular SLOC orienteer in the 80’s and 90’s.  Attendance was somewhat light due to the Possum Trot event being moved to the same weekend, but those that came enjoyed the Pasta Primavera, Mostacolli, and other nice dishes.  The United States Orienteering Federation provided socks, Clif Bars, and other goodies that were given away as holiday prizes.  Thanks to Mary Pat Geldmeier for preparing the main dishes and organizing the feast.  And thanks to the control pickup crew of Patrick Geldmeier, Linda Danskanen, David Frei, Tim Guetersloh, and Kyle and Carol Jarosik (and husband).
